  • Regulatory Test consultation process

The Regulatory Test consultation process generally consists of:

    • A preliminary stage where a Request for Information (RFI) is published. This gives Registered Participants and Interested Parties an opportunity to provide feedback and advice on possible network (like new transmission lines or substations) and non-network solutions (like local electricity generation or demand side management) for supplying growing electricity demand in that area. The RFI is typically open for comment for approximately twenty business days. Copies of RFI papers can be obtained by emailing Network Assessments.
    • Stage one where an Application Notice containing an economic assessment of feasible electricity supply solutions, together with Powerlink’s recommended option is published. Any submissions received from the RFI will be considered in preparing the Application Notice. Registered Participants and Interested Parties have the opportunity to provide feedback on the options. The Application Notice is open for comment for about thirty business days. A summary of the Application Notice is placed on the AEMO website, with the full version of the Application Notice available on Powerlink’s website.
    • Stage two where a Final Report is published. This follows the review and analysis of feedback to the Application Notice from Registered Participants and Interested Parties outlining the final decision for moving forward. The Final Report takes into consideration industry feedback received and outlines a course of action to ensure a reliable and cost-efficient solution to an area’s growing demand. A summary of the Final Report is placed on the AEMO website, with the full version of the Final Report available on Powerlink’s website.
