This new 275/132kV substation is being built on Black Harry Island to replace the existing Gladstone Substation (located adjacent to the Gladstone Power Station).
Construction commenced in September 2010 and is expected to be completed during late 2013.
During 2009, Powerlink appointed specialist environmental consultant RPS (formerly Conics) to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the project. As part of the EIA, RPS prepared a Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in November 2009, following input from the community and other stakeholders. This document can be downloaded from the Environmental documents page. Powerlink received Ministerial designation for the project in mid 2010.
