Blackstone Substation

The existing 110kV Swanbank A Substation near Ipswich has been replaced by the new Blackstone Substation.

In the longer-term, this new substation will also replace much of the 275kV Swanbank B Substation to ensure a reliable electricity supply is maintained to the Ipswich and South West Brisbane region.

Construction works for the project commenced in December 2009 and are ongoing.

A Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was completed in November 2008. This document can be downloaded from the Environmental documents page.

Ministerial designation was received for this project in June 2009.
