South Pine Substation
Overview
The existing South Pine Substation at Brendale was upgraded to ensure a secure and reliable high voltage electricity supply is maintained to the north-eastern Brisbane area.
The substation is a bulk supply point for ENERGEX to provide electricity to customers in an area that includes the north and the north-eastern areas of Brisbane. It comprises both 275kV and 110kV switching yards.
Status
This project is now complete.
This substation, which was built in the 1960s, required significant rebuilding and refurbishment to maintain the level of reliability expected by customers.
The work at the substation included an extension to the east of the existing substation (within land already owned by Powerlink), the installation of new substation equipment, and general refurbishment of the substation, including additional vegetation screening along Brendale Road.
