To meet the forecast electricity demand in South East Queensland, Powerlink is planning to construct a 500kV network in Southern Queensland. As part of this project, Powerlink has identified a future need to upgrade the transmission infrastructure between the Surat Basin and Halys (near Tarong).
The timing of this upgrade is dependent on future electricity demand and development of new generation in the Surat Basin.
