Powerlink has been requested by Australia Pacific LNG Pty Limited (APLNG) to establish direct connections into the high voltage transmission network to supply power to its future gas processing facilities near Wandoan. To meet this request, Powerlink is proposing to establish about 100km of transmission line and four substations in the area generally west of Wandoan, east of Injune and north of the Warrego Highway.
The project has been divided into three sections to ensure landowners and other stakeholders receive information and can provide comment on, matters that are most relevant to them. The three sections are:
Section 1 – Includes the proposed Yuleba North Substation and a 275kV transmission line from the proposed substation to Powerlink’s Wandoan South Substation (in the Woleebee area).
Section 2 – Includes a 132kV transmission line from the proposed Yuleba North Substation to a proposed substation known as Clifford Creek; and a 132kV transmission line from the proposed Yuleba North Substation to the proposed Dinoun South Substation.
Section 3 – Includes a 275kV transmission line from the proposed Yuleba North Substation to a proposed substation in the Eurombah area.
Powerlink commenced a project in April 2012 to identify and ultimately acquire the transmission line easements and land required for the proposed infrastructure. Environmental specialist GHD has been appointed to undertake separate Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes for each section of the project.
Community consultation is an essential part of the EIA process. Powerlink and GHD representatives have been meeting with potentially affected landowners, stakeholders and interested members of the community for several months to further understand the potential impacts of the proposed infrastructure.
Further information about each section of the project, including its status, is available by clicking on the above sections.
