The Ashgrove West Substation has been in service since 1979 and supplies electricity to Brisbane’s CBD and north-western suburbs. Some substation equipment is reaching the end of its technical service life and requires replacement to ensure an ongoing safe and reliable electricity supply.
This project involves removing ageing substation equipment and installing new equipment within the existing site on Powerlink-owned land. Activities to replace the substation’s external fencing will also be undertaken. These activities will not result in any planned electricity outages.
We are committed to delivering this work with as little disruption as possible to the wider community. The project will be undertaken in accordance with rigorous environmental management requirements, which clearly outline how potential impacts will be minimised and managed.
Construction works are starting in late May 2018 and will continue in stages until October 2020 (weather dependent).
Powerlink will work closely with local residents and stakeholders to keep them informed of upcoming activities for completion at the substation. We thank local residents in advance for their patience and understanding during project works.
