Powerlink undertook maintenance work to replace insulators on an existing transmission line between the Strathmore and Ross substations.
The 165km-long 275kV transmission line has been in service for more than 30 years and some deterioration had occurred on insulator strings. These required replacement to ensure a safe, reliable and cost effective supply of high voltage electricity to the North Queensland region. The insulator string is attached on the cross arms of towers and plays the important role of separating the energised line from the transmission tower.
Powerlink commenced on-ground works in September 2016 and completed the project in mid-2017. We thank landholders and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during these important works.
