How this dynamic people person is driving big outcomes

When Felicity joined Powerlink as a contract SAP Trainer in 2022, she couldn’t have known her role would evolve into something much bigger. Leading Powerlink’s rollout of Microsoft Copilot, she has been key to establishing the organisation’s global leadership in AI engagement. Read on to find out more about her Powerlink journey.

Felicity is refreshingly authentic. Whether she’s presenting at a conference or chatting with colleagues, her warm, genuine personality shines through. It’s simply not in her nature to pretend she’s someone she’s not. These strong people skills, plus her knack for communicating complex information, make her the perfect fit, as our IT Portfolio Learning Specialist, to roll out Microsoft 365 Copilot to Powerlink’s team of more than 1,500.

“We’ve made it a real priority to keep things human in how we approach AI,” Felicity says. “It’s evolving so quickly, and we’re navigating it together - learning, adapting, and supporting one another along the way. What’s made the biggest difference is the community we’ve built around it. People feel safe, supported, and confident knowing they’re not alone - it’s a really exciting time to be part of it all.”

Each time Felicity issues a new person with a Copilot user's license, she invites them to a session with her where they can raise questions and voice concerns. This individually tailored approach has helped Powerlink become a globally recognised leader in the AI space - an achievement Felicity feels deservedly proud to have played a significant part in.

“At Powerlink, we were the first governmental organisation in the country to be selected by Microsoft to trial Copilot. We quickly implemented licenses and achieved one of the highest global adoption rates through a focused strategy. We now collaborate with Microsoft and their customers to share our approach and support successful Copilot adoption. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to see the positive impact our experience is having across other organisations”

With new people being inducted all the time, Felicity always has plenty to do to keep the AI conversation going across the company. But she’s proud to do it with Powerlink:

“One of the things I really value about working here is seeing our projects come to life. We don’t just talk about ideas—we make them happen. It’s rewarding to follow a project from strategy and planning all the way through to delivery, where the end user benefits from a well-designed solution. Our General Manager is genuinely passionate about innovation, always encouraging us to explore what’s new and stay ahead of the curve. Thanks to the team’s hard work, we’ve built a strong digital platform that enables us to take advantage of emerging tools, systems, and technologies.”

Felicity has always been motivated to help people, leading her to forge a career centred on relationship building and problem solving. She’s found incredible meaning doing both at Powerlink. Whether she’s helping the team to understand and engage with Copilot - “It’s those moments where people go, ‘Wow, look what I can do here!” - or chairing our Inclusive Energy Committee to create awareness around cultural diversity, neurodiversity and disability, or, even sharing her story to inspire other women in her field, Felicity brings passion to everything she does.

“We are proud partners with Women in Technology. Recently, I had the privilege to serve as a panelist in their 'Inspiring Women' series. I spoke at a breakfast event where I shared my experiences as a female professional in STEM. During the event, several attendees approached me to express how they related to my comments. This interaction was instrumental in validating their own experiences. Being part of the Inclusive Energy Committee and speaking on panels to inspire women has been an invaluable and unexpected opportunity."

Felicity has found that being a parent to two young children makes her work with Powerlink even more meaningful.

“When we're out, I sometimes point out the transmission towers to my children and tell them that Powerlink makes it all possible—and that I get to be part of it. It’s a reminder of the small role I play in a much larger effort to deliver electricity across Queensland. Their curiosity and pride make the work I do feel even more meaningful.”

Throughout her career, Felicity has always adapted and challenged herself, building an impressive resumé that's still growing! Since joining Powerlink in 2022, she’s appreciated leaders who have backed her, setting her up to succeed.

“Every project I’ve worked on has had strong leadership support, which has made a real difference. It’s helped me feel empowered and capable. I know I can approach any leader at any time. Our General Manager has a genuine open-door policy. They’re always willing to listen, offer guidance, and encourage you to lean into your strengths.”

Felicity has also appreciated the opportunities for personal growth.

“I really am proud of how I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone. It’s things like being the Inclusive Energy Chair and participating in Women in Leadership programs that have helped set me up for success. Powerlink gives me the freedom to be myself - I don’t have to put on a different persona. I’ve even had the opportunity to speak to hundreds of people at a conference, which was an incredible experience. Being supported to show up as who I am has made all the difference.”

Alongside these opportunities, Felicity appreciates that at Powerlink, she can play a leadership role while retaining what matters most in her personal life.

“I really appreciate that I can finish my workday, head home, cook dinner, and be fully present with my children and family. Powerlink supports that balance so well. I’m able to contribute as a mid-level leader and positively influence others - without compromising on the things that matter most to me. That balance is something I’m truly passionate about.”
