Fire and transmission line safety
Fire burning beneath or near transmission lines or substations can endanger people, animals and property, and has the potential to interrupt electricity supply to customers.
If you see a fire burning near our lines or substations, call 000 immediately. Please also notify Powerlink on 1800 353 031, even if you’re unsure what risk the fire poses.
- You can tell if it’s one of our transmission lines by the identification label located on the transmission tower leg.
- It’s important you seek our advice as early as possible before undertaking any activity involving our lines by calling 1800 353 031.
