Disability Inclusion Plans create an inclusive, supportive workplace that benefits both employees and the organisation. They promote equity, compliance, talent retention, performance improvement, corporate social responsibility, and employee engagement.
Powerlink recently participated in the Access and Inclusion Index (2024) with the Australian Disability Network (AusDN) to assess our strengths and identify opportunities for improvement in fostering an inclusive and accessible workplace for people with disability—one of our key priorities within our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.
The Index highlighted several strengths, as well as opportunities to enhance our approach, including expanding our Community of Practice, providing targeted training, developing guidelines and procedures, and strengthening our external commitments.
In response, we have developed Powerlink’s first-ever Disability Inclusion Plan. This plan aims to tie together our existing policies, practices, and initiatives, reinforce our commitment to inclusion, and drive accountability across the organisation.
The plan focuses on three key areas:
We aim to enhance inclusion and accessibility by providing education, improving policies, changing attitudes, and creating more equitable opportunities. The implementation of a Disability Inclusion Plan will help us foster a more inclusive and accessible environment.
