Our environment graduates rotate across a 3-year program, building knowledge and capability in compliance and risk, approvals, property, easement maintenance, asset planning & design, operations, safety, compliance and environmental management.
With more rotations being added, you’ll currently have the opportunity to rotate through:
Environment and Sustainability
Our Environment team partners with the whole business to minimise our impact on the planet whilst we strive to deliver a world class energy future for Queenslanders. We do so through the provision of practical, specialist advice that enables Powerlink to proactively manage environmental risks and remain compliant with legislative requirements. Our specialist knowledge allows us to obtain the environmental approvals required to connect the new wave of renewable energy providers. We maintain Powerlink’s environmental management system and influence how work is done to embed a sustainable approach to our activities. Our team is split between the southern, central and northern regions. An emphasis on teamwork and continuously building a diversity of strengths allows us to remain effective in a dynamic environment.
Community, Delivery and Services
Graduates as part of the Environmental Graduate Program are immersed in a dynamic rotation that offers hands-on exposure to key areas of property and environmental management across the Community, Delivery and Service group. The program is designed to foster critical thinking, stakeholder engagement, and technical proficiency across the following areas:
Land Access & Acquisition
Graduates support the facilitation of land access agreements and assist in the acquisition process, developing skills in stakeholder negotiation, landholder engagement, and navigating legal and regulatory frameworks.
Offset Management & Environmental Approvals
Through involvement in offset site identification, monitoring, and reporting, graduates gain a strong foundation in environmental planning, strategy, and compliance. They also contribute to environmental approval processes, learning how to interpret legislation and assess environmental impacts.
Land Management
Graduates assist in implementing land management plans, supporting activities such as weed control, erosion mitigation, and engagement with Traditional Owners. This builds practical skills in vegetation management, land condition monitoring, and cultural heritage awareness.
Estimating & Project Planning
By contributing to project scoping, cost estimation, and financial planning, graduates develop commercial awareness, budgeting skills, and an understanding of how to align environmental and property strategies with broader project goals.
Operational Engineering
Our Operational Engineering group’s core function is to ensure operational asset integrity, which means that the network assets are safe, reliable, compliant and fit for purpose.
The group is responsible for the planning, design, and optimisation of the network operational assets, as well as the management of the operational risks and issues. Operational Engineering also works closely with our Energy Digital Management Group to leverage data and insights to improve the asset management and operational performance of the network.
