The Powerlink team celebrated World Environment Day earlier this week with a mini-environment expo and birds of prey show that starred an osprey and four owls.
Witnesses said the birds of prey – four owls and an osprey – appeared to be in good health and had ripped into a variety of food, including raw chicken and fish, during the two hours they were in the room.
The light was really dim at times, but it seemed to suit the owls,” said one staffer who saw it all.
“The owls at different times flew around too. It was pretty good.”
Senior Environmental Systems Advisor, Deb, said the bird show was all part of Powerlink’s World Environment Day activities which sought to raise awareness and celebrate this year’s theme of Connecting People to Nature.
“Besides the bird of prey show we set up a mini-Environmental Expo in the Whittaker Room featuring various manned booths which outlined some of the key environmental aspects of the work Powerlink performs.”
Deb described the day as a success and said it gave people an opportunity to connect with nature while raising the profile of Powerlink’s environmental work. Hear Deb talk about how Powerlink’s World Environment Day activities celebrated the theme ‘connecting people to nature’.
