3:33PM AEST 30 March 2017 update

  • Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie impacts continue to include heavy rain, damaging wind gusts, and abnormally high tides across a broad area.
  • Get the latest flood warnings and BOM updates.

Powerlink transmission towers

  • Powerlink’s network is configured so that we can continue to provide secure supply to Central and North Queensland via other feeders.
  • Aerial inspections this morning had located ten damaged towers on Powerlink’s Broadsound to Nebo transmission line, inland southwest of Mackay. The ongoing severe weather impacts of ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie have extensively damaged ten transmission towers on Powerlink’s network in Central Queensland. Based on the configuration of Powerlink’s 275kV network in this area, there are no current electricity supply impacts.
  • Powerlink is continuing to fully assess the extent of the damage in this area, which is still affected by heavy rain and wind. We will wait until conditions are completely safe for crews to access the area and commence work to allow the transmission circuit to be returned to service.
