Powerlink will be delivering the Pioneer-Burdekin Pumped Hydro Connection Project to provide the transmission infrastructure required to safely and reliably connect Queensland Hydro’s planned Pioneer-Burdekin Pumped Hydro Project to the electricity grid.
Based on timeframes outlined in the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, Powerlink has not commenced any detailed planning, studies or design work on the transmission connections to the Pioneer Burdekin site.
Powerlink will engage with the community openly and transparently as we move through the process of formally commencing this project and working together to identify the least overall impact location for this infrastructure.
Powerlink will commence formal engagement on the project in April 2024. Please find attached Powerlink’s engagement approach for Pioneer-Burdekin Pumped Hydro Connection Project.
Powerlink’s engagement approach is based on our Transmission Easement Engagement Process which steps through meaningful, authentic and early engagement with landholders, Traditional Owners, the community and other stakeholder along with carefully assessing the social, environmental and economic impacts for selecting new transmission lines routes.
If you have any questions regarding this future project, please contact our project team on the contact section of this webpage.
