To ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of Powerlink Queensland’s high voltage electricity network, low-flying helicopters will carry out routine maintenance inspections of transmission lines across Southern Queensland during October through to November (weather permitting).

Our specialist crews will carry out this work across the region including areas covering: Benarkin North, Crossdale, Harlin, Kinnoul, Linville, Maidenwell, Moore, Somerset Dam, South Nanango, Taromeo, Wivenhoe Pocket and Yarraman where Powerlink’s network is located.

These inspections are an essential part of Powerlink’s maintenance activities and we aim to carry out the work with minimum disruption to local communities.

During the aerial inspections, the helicopter pilot will seek to maintain the maximum distance practically possible from houses, livestock and crops. Local residents may see the helicopter moving relatively quickly and at a low level along the transmission lines, and in some instances, it may need to pause to enable closer inspection of the lines.

We aim to be as quick and non-disruptive as possible, but there is potential for some noise during the inspections. We are also aware that low-flying helicopters have the potential to startle livestock.

As such, we encourage landholders with an easement on or near their property to register their contact details with us to receive more information about upcoming patrols in their area.

More information on our helicopter inspections is available at: www.powerlink.com.au/helicopter-activities or call during business hours on FREECALL 1800 635 369 to find out more and register or update your contact details.
