Powerlink has been engaged by Lightsource bp to connect its 280MW Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage System to the transmission network in the Gympie area. Their project will be developed over approximately 600 hectares and is located adjacent to Powerlink’s Woolooga Substation at Lower Wonga.
Powerlink’s scope of works includes establishing a new 275kV feeder bay at Woolooga Substation to enable the connection of the hybrid solar farm to the network.
The project is currently in the early stages of design, with construction expected to commence in Q4 2026, and completion anticipated in Q4 2027.
