The connection works included construction of 65km of new transmission line, 166 transmission towers and two new switching stations.

Powerlink commenced construction works to connect the MacIntyre Wind Farm to the transmission network in May 2022, starting with early procurement and design activities.
Despite 2022 being the wettest year on record, which caused severe flooding and access issues, the project remained on track.
Construction was successfully completed by late 2023, culminating in the commissioning of the new transmission line and the Tummaville and MacIntyre Intermittent Switching Stations (MISS) into the network in November and December 2023 respectively.
This enabled Acciona’s MacIntyre Substation North to connect into the network in August 2024, with the MacIntyre Substation South connected in January 2025.
